Whilst the record for the four man crossing, from East to West, is 36 days, it is not uncommon for
crews to take up to 80 days, and indeed all boats have to take provisions for a potential 90
days at sea. Once crews have left La Gomera in the Canary Islands, they must cross the
2500 nautical miles to English Harbour in Antigua completely unaided.

The oldest four Man crew to complete this challenge had a combined age of 179
years. At the commencement of the race in 2011, the Corinthian crew will have
a combined age of 231 years, whilst their oldest rower will become the oldest
person to have ever rowed the Atlantic.
