Chris Walters - age: 52 Chris has his own plumbing company, and lives near Axminster in Devon. He has two sons and a daughter. He played rugby in the Midlands, and has taken part in ultra long distance cycle challenges. He is also a very experienced diver. He was the initial driving force behind this adventure, which has been an ambition for as long as he can remember. |
Elliot Dale - age: 51 Elliot has a car repair and body shop in Lyme Regis, specialising in vintage cars. He has a son and daughter, and lives in Rousden, near lyme Regis. He was a junior AAA cross country champion, but his major interest has been motor sport - he competes all over Europe in vintage motor rallies in his own 1930's open topped Bently. Since taking up ocean rowing two years ago, he has competed in distance cycling and running events. "when Chris mentioned that he had always wanted to row the Atlantic, I just felt I had to join him. Not a question of why, but why not!" |
Tony Short - age: 66 Tony is a married man with twin grown up sons, and two granddaughters. He is retired and lives in the Blackdown Hills As a younger man he played and coached rugby, and later in life took up skiing and cycling. He has taken part in many long distance cycle challenges across Europe in aid of various charities. He has also done a number of treks through the Himalayas, and is planning another this year to the original Everest base camp in Nepal. He can't think of any logical reason why he should want to row the Atlantic - he just does, and if he can help to raise money for Shelterbox, and the British Heart Foundation, that will do. |
Brian Fletcher - age: 57 Brian is a married man with three sons and a daughter. He runs his own Financial Services Practice, and lives in the small hamlet of Tolcis, near Axminster. Brians has participated in many endurance events, such as road running, marathon kayak races, mountain marathons, and long distance cycles. He will be joining Tony later this year to trek to the Everest base camp in the Himalayas. He has always had a driving ambition to achieve the ultimate, and feels rowing the Atlantic would be the ultimate achievement. |
